Indian Trail Art Studio

Mini Workshops (Ages 6-13) During the two-hour class, the students will draw step-by-step a Duck (September 26th) following directions by the instructor. They will learn about the basic principles of acrylic painting techniques: brush strokes, gradient blending, mixing and creating new colors, smashing, tapping and more. Students will be using acrylic paint, a variety of paint brushes, q-tips and sponges.

Tuition for Workshop is $35 for one 2-hour session (all supplies are included)

Sculpting (Ages 5-9) Students will create original 3-D sculptures and bas-reliefs out of clay. They will learn about basic principles of clay techniques through the use of coil, pinch, slabs and clay slips.
Students will apply brush glazing methods to decorate their pre-made and bisque-fired ceramic pieces. Wednesday class instructor: Gwen Bowen

Tuition for Fall Session 1 (1 class per week for 6 weeks) is $140 ($120 per Session + $20 clay, glazes and firing fee)

Mixed Media (Ages 10 - Adults) Students will explore various techniques and new ways to create one of a kind art pieces using a combination of traditional and non-traditional mixed media such as recycled materials, watercolor and acrylic paint, fabrics etc. Emphasis will be placed on the elements of art and design while focusing on color, texture and composition. Drawing and Painting (Ages 6-9) This class will explore the basics of academic art techniques such as drawing, coloring, and painting. Students will develop art skills with the creative use of soft and oil pastels, watercolors, mixed media and more.

Drawing and Painting with Acrylics (Teens/Adults)

Learn how to draw and paint objects that we find in everyday environment. Students will receive knowledge about very important elements of art such as composition, building principles, proportions, lines and forms, perspective as well as drawing techniques and colors.

A variety of techniques will reinforce basic concepts while encouraging students to develop a personal style. Students will be using Acrylic paints.

Watercolor (Teens/Adults)

In this class, students will explore, understand, and practice the unpredictable and wonderful world of abstract watercolor painting. Students will learn to combine watercolors and techniques such as mixing vibrant colors, brush strokes, painting over dry and wet paper, using salt, applying black ink, using organic and recycled materials, and more.

Hand building - Pottery  (Ages 7-12)

Classes offer instruction in basic handbuilding techniques through use of pinch, coil, slabs, drape molds and other principles of clay work.

Students will create functional pieces (bowls, mugs, platters, trays) as well as original sculptures, wall decor and more. They will apply underglazing and dipping methods to create finished ceramic pieces.

During the first two classes students will be working with white clay, then two classes with brown clay and during the final two class students will be glazing their pieces. They will apply underglazing and dipping methods to create finished ceramic pieces.
